This weeks chapter was based on the history, processes, popularity, and effects of books on mass media. Personally I thought it was great. Honestly, I thought the chapter was great and very interesting to me personally, and most likely, because I am somewhat of a writer. Specifically, I found the fact that books were once upon a time called "dime novels" highly (HIGHLY) amusing. On a more serious note I find myself mostly attracted to the e-book vs. physical book debate. I'm not sure if the preference of e-books or actual physical copies is an actual debate going on right now but if there was I'd find myself casually laying on the physical copy side of that fence. There's just something about having an actual book, with all its smells, textures, and paper cuts, in my hand and actually flipping through the pages that specifically tickles my fancy. These "tickles" are vaguely absent when I'm simply swiping my fingers or clicking an emotionless "next page" button on an e-book. I'm not saying I've never been desperate for a story and ran to the internet to get my fix but more like I prefer not to, but that;s just complicated old me. Lastly, I found the Harry Potter book boomer very interesting. Did people really begin to read books so much that it actually resembles the baby boomer phenomenon (if you consider people getting down and dirty a "phenomenon")? That's crazy. Especially considering that I have never read the series and have barely sat through a whole movie. I suppose this is a sign saying I should get a move on that, eh? Well, that's my spill on the chapter. It was interesting in a completely book/writing nerd sort of way. Hopefully the next chapter is just as interesting.
Hey my names is Janae and this is my blog. I am 18 years old and I like to write.I consider myself to be a bit silly and I'm infamously known for thinking way too much. That's not really important but it is something about myself and I'd assume that's what you'd like to see. So you're welcome, and I hope you enjoy my reflections.
